How we write and review everything on this site
We lend money against people's homes and business premises. Content on a site that does that should be attributable, checkable and corrected when it is wrong. Here is how ours works.
Every page has a named author and a named reviewer
Not a brand byline and not a first name. A full name, a role, a bio and a link to a verified LinkedIn profile. The author wrote or commissioned the piece; the reviewer is a person at HomeSec who has read it and stands behind the accuracy of what it says. They are never the same person. The date of the last review is shown on the page.
Reviewers are assigned by subject. Catriona Anderson reviews eligibility, caveat and ATO content. Jason Brockmuller reviews second mortgages, bridging and LVR policy. Matt Hempel reviews settlement process and security types. Samantha Flory reviews service standards and the application process. Paul Stone reviews pricing, product structure and the partner programme.
Where the figures come from
Loan amounts, LVR ceilings, settlement times and fee positions are stored once in the site's codebase and rendered from that single source on every page. It is not possible for one page on this site to state a different maximum LVR from another, because no page holds its own copy of the number. When a parameter changes, it changes in one place and every page updates together.
Sources and citation
Where we describe a law, a regulator's position or a tax treatment, we link to the primary source — ASIC, the ATO, a state land titles office — rather than to a summary of it. We do not nofollow those links. Where a claim rests on a study rather than on our own book, we name the study.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we have. The feedback form reaches both Joint Chief Executives. Material corrections to a page are noted on that page with the date, rather than quietly edited.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help draft and structure content. We do not publish anything that a named person at HomeSec has not read, checked and put their name to. No page on this site is automatically published. The reviewer named at the foot of a page is a claim that a human read it — not a formality.
What this site is not
It is general information, not financial, legal or taxation advice. We are not tax advisers and we are not your accountant. Where a decision turns on your circumstances — deductibility being the obvious one — we say so and tell you who to ask.
